I'm guessing most of you "Glee" fans out there have a crush on one of the students in the show. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a little Puck eye candy as well, but who do I love watching the most? Will Schuester (AKA Mr. Schue - The Glee club coach). What's his real name? Matthew Morrison. Check out this photo:

While working on "Glee" a few weeks back, I was pretty excited to learn that I'd be spending the entire day (12 hours) chatting it up with Matt Morrison. I was seated next to him at the wedding. He said I was his date. He's a very down to earth guy and while in between cuts, when he wasn't chatting with me :) he was texting on his iPhone like the rest of the world. He told me a lot about himself, like where he is from and where he has lived etc... He had been living in NYC for the past 12 years working on Broadway and such. One of his first big shows was the musical "Footloose". I mentioned that I saw that musical when it traveled to Hartford, CT about 10 years back. Come to find out, he was in the show. Weird. Matt moved to Los Angeles specifically for "Glee". I'm not sure even he knew just how big it would be.
What else did we talk about? Well, while filming an episode, he slid under a couch and broke his finger. He had to keep taking off his splint while they were rolling. His birthday is the day before Halloween and although he was having a huge Halloween party at his house near the Hollywood Bowl, he said it wasn't for his birthday. He dressed up as Richard Simmons.
Matt was awesome to talk to. In between takes, he went over to Krafty and brought me back some sour patch kids. How did he know I loved those? We shared and chatted some more. He told me some other stuff but I"m not at liberty to say. As a fellow actor, I can respect one's privacy.

Speaking of Privacy- There were paparazzi everywhere on this set. They just camped around along the outskirts just waiting to get the perfect picture of the cast. A fellow actor and I thought it'd be funny to snap a photo of the them.

So, all that was day one. Day two, we were at the reception. Matt was seated across the room from me so I did not get to talk to him although, when he walked by me to go to his seat, he rubbed my back to say hello. He was very nice and I wish I got to say goodbye.

Although I did not see Jane Lynch, those two days on set were pretty fun. I made some friends, danced, chatted with a hottie and was entertained by the cast singing and dancing. Matt did a solo on stage that me turn to jell-o. I hope you all enjoy his performance on the small screen as much as I enjoyed it live. Still tingling just thinking about it. One of the best performers in that show is Heather Morris (Brittany). She just looks like she loves what she does and she's amazing at it. From what I hear, she used to be a backup dancer for Beyonce. Apparently Beyonce had a ton of backup dancers because one of my photographers used to dance for her too. Strange, small world.

When you don't have cable or time, you become so out of the loop. I had never even heard of this show let alone the fact that it's in the fourth season already. I feel kind of bad when I work on a show that I've never seen, even worse, never heard of. I did however get excited when I saw "Blossom" (Mayim Bialik) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayim_Bialik because it took me back to my childhood a bit. Man, I loved Blossom's floppy hats with the huge, bright flowers. Oh, and who didn't love her brother (Joey Lawrence)? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joey_Lawrence

We filmed with a live audience at Warner Brothers Studios. It's almost like Theater except I didn't have any lines.

Ah Theater, how I've missed you...

I've never filmed a sitcom before. I liked that it was a smaller call, faster paced and a live audience. If only I was out here in Hollywood while "Friends" was filming.

I worked for about only a half hour in a plane scene and I sat in the back so I highly doubt you'll see me. I thought I'd post a blog anyway.

It was an easy day. I was there for only a few hours but got paid for the whole 8 hours. That NEVER happens!

I also got to wear my own clothes and I got to sit on a 'plane' the whole time. It was pretty awesome!

If you are trying to look for me, I'm wearing a burgundy shirt with white polka dots.

How many times can one be told they should be the stand in/photo double for the main actress? I wasn't sure if I should have been flattered or annoyed. If only I got the job, then it would have been worth it.

I wish people were thinking of this picture when they were saying that. :0)

We shot outside all day in the hot, hot sun. Constantly applying sunscreen but many still got burnt. It was to take place at the Montana State Fair but we filmed at the Hansen Dam. I guess that's why so much is filmed here in CA - You can film outside all year round and make CA look like any other state. It's pretty remarkable actually.

I attended this wonderful event along with many other celebrities to support two amazing charities. Not only did the money go to a good cause, but we met so many celebrities who believe in these charities, and so many entertainers who performed and made it an exciting evening. Pink-E-Swear were an amazingly talented group of young singers and dancers, and Bad Fathers played some really loud punk rock.

I'm Recording You: commercial for Record My Calls video project

I was just involved in a shoot for a commercial project called RECORD MY CALLS. It's a service that allows you to record your phone calls for later playback (a really cool thing: Bannock has used Google Voice's ability to do something similar to record interviews with musicians, like this one with Jeff Loomis of the heavy metal band NEVERMORE).

My good friend Tim Swaan contacted me to do the commercial, and it was a very small cast and crew. What was weird was how much footage we shot and how little of that gets used. As Tim said: "30 seconds is surprisingly short!"

Went for a fitting the week before - They wanted to cut my hair but I was only working one day for minimum wage, it was just not worth it. I talked them into not cutting my hair. They said as long as I put it in tight, small hot rollers for set. Can do!

I show up for set in my hot rollers that took and hour and a half to put in and the hairstylist brushed out my curls and complained that my hair was too long! The girl next to me had much longer hair and she got a cool updo (as did most of the other girls on set). Nope not me, I got a frizzy comb-over

Some of the dresses the girls wore were so awesome! I looked like a 50 year old!

Needless to say, they really didn't use me much in the scenes and the hair lady complained every time I went near her that she wanted to cut my hair.

For the second scene, someone said "Get that thing up" - referring to my bush of hair. I got a half assed updo that made me look even more terrible. I think I was the only girl that didn't get to wear a hat. I was really hoping for some good photos from this but...

I had a hard time chatting with people on set and there was a lot of fake cigarette smoke that was making me choke. The shoes didn't fit and I looked ugly but it was still neat to see how they film a period piece.

Entourage - Season 7 Ep. 3 : Dramedy - airdate July 18th

Entourage: Season 7 Episode 3 "Dramedy" to Air on July 18, 2010

First off - I'm pretty sure I won't be seen in this episode of Entourage. Me and this other girl were directed to go up the ramp and into the cafe and the waiter was supposed to bring us out to sit outside on the deck (where all the action was) but instead these other girls just took our seats. So, we just walked quickly by the camera and went inside and stayed there for the rest of the time. It was nice to sit down and chat with someone though. It was also great because it was a really short day - well, short for background work anyway.

I got to touch elbows with Adrian Grenier. Adrien got a haircut that I'm not all that impressed with. Check out some photos of Adrian here. In the scene we shot, Adrian was to ride a motorcycle up on the curb in front of the cafe. he stalled it a few times which was funny. I think he felt silly though. I enjoyed it. I think I saw all of the main actors except for Jeremy Piven. Kevin Dillon was awesome, he joked around and chatted us up inside the cafe during his quick break. Very nice guy, would love to work with him again.

The Entourage Girls were... um... well, let's just say, they were a bit older than me and weren't wearing much clothing and they all looked alike. Fake breasts, bleach blond hair, fake tans, tons of makeup. But I guess that's the look they were going for.

There was a family there (mom, dad and daughter) that won a day on set. They flew in from New York on their own dime just to be on set. They were nice and were asking me a lot of questions about what they should know and do on set etc...

Series of short films premier for the Summer at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood

On June 7th, Diegodiego, Blanca Blanco and I headed to the Egyptian Theater for the premier of four short films (actually a trailer and 3 short films).

All of them were great, but Skip Listening in particular had a very powerful message that they got through with lots of comedy and lots of emotion, all in one very short package. The character Thor Ramsey plays at the beginning -- a distracted, self-important radio personality -- was really awesome. Gave me some ideas for a future project...

Criminal Minds: The Internet is Forever airs 5/19/2010

Season 5, Episode 22 – Airs: 5/19/2010

Episode Summary: The BAU travels to Boise, Idaho, to profile a serial killer who is using the internet to find his victims on social networking sites.

I was chatting with a few people on a pilot I worked on and this girl who had been working background for some time now mentioned how awful it was to play a cop because the uniforms were uncomfortable, hot and sometimes itchy, the belt was heavy, the boots never fit right and it took forever to remove everything to use the bathroom.

So, when I got cast as a Boise Police Officer for Criminal Minds I was a little nervous.

First, I realized how great it was not to have to lug a ton of wardrobe with me. Next, I found out how funny I looked and felt wearing a police uniform until I got the belt with all the "weapons" and then I felt powerful :)

Now, she wasn't completely wrong, the uniform wasn't the most comfortable thing to wear. The waist band was so high it couldn't flatter a super model. The belts, buckles, boots, badge and weaponry were all so heavy. It took a while to get all of our gear and get suited up. Walking was interesting at first. They don't carry every size in shoes on sets so you have to hope you get a pair that's close to your size or at least bigger rather than smaller. I was able to wear my insoles in the boots which made standing and walking MUCH more tolerable than wearing heels all day. Going to the bathroom was a little tricky at first but after a few times you kind of got the hang of it. The only thing was, you had to really plan your bathroom trips because you tripled your time in there and if they needed you on set you had to be ready. Needless to say, I didn't drink a whole lot of coffee during these three days of shooting.

I'll take wearing a police uniform any day over wearing a mini skirt and heels for 12 hours.

I got to work with a few people that I worked with on the movie Bad Teacher which was nice and I made some new friends on set. I really liked all the other actors and the crew was nice as well. The food was also good so that's always something to look forward to.

I worked pretty closely to the main actors and got to make some major eye contact with Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore (pictured above; unfortunately Shemar didn't take his shirt off) during the first scene I worked on in the police station. The main actors didn't really talk to the background at all and most of the time they seemed pretty serious and focused.

Matthew Gray Gubler who plays Dr. Spencer Reid (my favorite character) got a haircut that I think looks fantastic but I overheard some people talking about how they miss his long hair.

The second day of filming, there were a ton of extras playing family and friends of the victims and I was sort of in charge of a few groups of people bringing them to different spots of the station, consoling them, directing them, improvising and pantomiming of course. One guy was so 'into' his character that I was really impressed yet wanted to crack up because I'm pretty sure you won't see us at all in the scene and if you do, we'll be so far away you probably won't be able to make out our faces.

During our off time in holding, a few of us got together and filmed a ridiculous little movie using just an iphone and an editing application. I'll post the film here (just click on the link) but I just want you all to know that this is a joke and in no way do I consider this good acting, it's just being "Bored on Set."

My question remains, What does UnSub stand for and/or what does it mean? If you watch the show, you know what I'm talking about and if you know the answer, feel free to post it in my comments section. I'm very curious.

TV.com Episode Overview for "The Internet is Forever"

The Doctors "Caught On Tape" May 7th, 2010

This week on The Doctors: "Caught On Tape" (airing Fri May 7th), they mount "a health sting to uncover the shortcuts people take when they don’t think anyone is looking! And, learn which beauty treatments may do more harm than good and what food to never buy from a vending machine!" All this according to the page about the episode I filmed for.

I found this on Craigslist. The listing read something along the lines of: "Looking for women interested in getting a free facial to participate in a focus group for a known network TV show -- will compensate $20.00 for your time." It wasn't until I received a phone call from them that I found out it's for The Doctors - a show that I love! I had to take an over-the-phone survey about facial care and cosmetics, and then I'm off!

I arrive and I go to a waiting area at the studio for almost two hours before they take me in. I find out that they weren't supposed to tell us (the "facial victims") that it was for The Doctors. Right then I know something is weird.

They take me in and put this white goop on my face while I'm sitting up. They say that it's a "rare fruit extract" from India or something like; I just go along with it. The girl next to me goes in the back room to wash her goop off and starts screaming that it's burning!

Now I know there's hidden cameras in the room and they want a reaction to all this nonsense, so I try to play along and give them what they want. In the end, they think they fooled me like on Candid Camera and say they will set us up for an actual facial somewhere nice. They hand me $20.00, have me sign a release, and I'm on my way.

Parks and Recreation "Telethon" May 6th, 2010

The upcoming episode for Parks and Recreation -- "Telethon" -- will be airing Thursday May 6th, 2010.

The scene I worked in was a night club scene. They had us park at CBS Studios right near where I live, so it was great only having to drive 10 minutes to work! Then we took a shuttle into Hollywood to start the filming.

I had to wear my tall black books and got stuck standing the whole time, of course! Ugh...

As an extra, you can't speak on set, or even whisper; you have to pantomime everything you're doing in the background. So I'm trying to dance to no music and hold a conversation without words. Harder than one would think... They gave us these "drinks" -- water or juice w/ coloring and sugar -- and it's surprisingly more disgusting than it sounds.

While we're on break, what usually happens is that several people huddle around and call the casting agency to find out what's available for work the next day. Then we all try to get through to the lines (since it's always busy) and when one of us gets through and gets booked, we pass the phone on to the next person (as long as the Casting Director allows it) so they can get themselves booked as well. . I was able to book work for the following Monday while on set, and passed the phone to two other actors and got them booked also.

Team work, people! That's what the biz is all about when you're working your way up.

CSI: New York "Unusual Suspects" May 12, 2010

That's a great picture of the cast. Here's a picture of me during the filming of CSI: New York, season 6, episode 20, "Unusual Suspects" due to air May 12, 2010 (whew! say that 10 times fast):

I was so sick going into work this day, and it looks REALLY bad if you call out, so I just had to suck it up. So I pull up to the lot and throw up in my car. Good start to the day!

After loading onto the shuttle and worrying that I'm going to be in painful heels all day, what does wardrobe pick for me? Heels, of course! I do one scene, then I absolutely have to change my shoes. My feet were killing me. Did anyone notice or get mad? No, thank God. But I was worried that they would the whole time.

The theater we were shooting at was exactly 100 years old, and was freezing. I'm feeling awful. Even Gary Sinise is feeling awful (or he's just all business, but it's hard to tell). He's taller than I thought he'd be...

They were filming during lunch hour on the busiest street in downtown without blocking the road. We're waiting for red lights in order to shoot, people are walking through the shots, people are taking pictures, they're trying to get on camera, they're asking questions...! Most of the time, the background actors weren't even CLOSE to being in the shot, but they still made us stand around for hours till they could get their shit together. Needless to say, I most likely won't be seen in this episode but ya never know...

I'm sure I was just grumpy because I was sick, but this wasn't very fun at all!

NCIS: Los Angeles

I loved working my first day on set: filming "Hand-to-Hand," episode 16 of NCIS: Los Angeles at Paramount Studios. The PA's and crew were great at giving direction and were all really nice. Working background gave me a chance to meet some awesome people over the course of what turned out to be a fairly long day. I wore flats, but they stretched on me and started giving me blisters as the day wore on. Whoever said acting was easy!

During our hour of lunch, I got to walk around the studio and check out the lot and while breaking for a small moment LL Cool J kept smiling at me, but because it's not cool to talk to the "Famous" on set, all I could do was smile back at him. Awkward much? Well, he finally came up to me and asked how my day was going. I couldn't just ignore him, that would have been rude right? ;-P Unfortunately for me, Chris O'Donnell kept mostly to himself, so I didn't get a shot at interacting with him (Fun Fact: both LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell are even hotter in real life! I don't even know how that's possible).

Oh, and Linda Hunt is SOOOOOOO tiny. It took all my strength to fight the urge to just pick her up! Kinda like a cute puppy or small child. I hope that's not offensive.

Watch NCIS: Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 6th...and maybe you'll spot me in the good guys' headquarters!

Red Carpet Events: Some fun facts

Red Carpet Events are quite a bit of fun, and there's always new faces and crazy personalities. But there are some interesting facts that I've discovered, stuff that might change both an outsider's view of them as well as prepare new actors, musicians, and artists for these events...which are mandatory if you want to get a foot in the door. Best to be prepared, right? So here are some of those interesting facts:

There are lines...often long lines, but sometimes very short lines that DO NOT MOVE. Either way, there's something long about it, and not in a good way. (Is there a such thing as a long line that's good? If you think of one, let me know and write it down in the comments!)
The other people in line know about as much as you do. Which is to say, nothing at all. That's a good thing, if you're willing to talk to them about that fact ;-)
The people immediately surrounding you in line are one of two types of people: (1) the people you talk to most and make friends with early on while you're waiting in line, and thus the people that you will remember (and will remember you) the most; (2) the people who are about to cut you if you don't throw some elbows or pull out the "trippy foot" maneuver. You know what maneuver I'm talking about!
If cops show up, it's not because of the potential underage stars drinking alcohol at the club, the potential drug abuse in the bathrooms, or the shady extortions going on in the back rooms. As far as I've seen, that stuff doesn't happen nearly as much in Hollywood (well not at the red carpet events) as the news would make you believe. No, if cops show up, it's because some real celebrity was trying to walk down the sidewalk to get into a better club, and couldn't get around all the not-so-big stars waiting in line at the club featuring the Red Carpet Event. Stupid big time celebrities!
The people controlling the lines are one of two people: (1) Guys like Alex Munoz, who knows everybody's face and runs things like a well-oiled machine; (2) Guys like Bill the Bouncer, who looks tough and is probably packing heat, but is probably more scared of the line than the people in the line are scared of how their hair looks before they hit the cameras.
If you're 20 feet from the door, and someone official-looking says, "We're going to stop the line for a minute or two as people get through the Red Carpet," then that really means, "We're going to announce this party is closed permanently in about 45 seconds."

I think Red Carpet Events -- the ones you don't see on national TV -- are some of the best places to get to meet people. They are also scary for newcomers, and a lot of people still follow the mentality of being out for themselves, which only makes it harder on the new crowd. But if you just put yourself out there and start talking, you'll never expect the personalities you'll meet! I've met some great ones so far, and I'm looking forward to meeting many more!

That Special Day update: Junebug Media now has a Facebook Group with Pix

Way back in September of 2009, I was cast in a short little multimedia event known as "That Special Day," a Junebug Media production that consisted of a wedding gone wrong meets a zombie apocalypse. Now, Brandie June Chernow and her talented team of set designers, photographers, videographers, and makeup artists -- including the talented David Mendez -- have created a Facebook Group for updates, photos, and more information on the upcoming final product.

I played one of the bridesmaids, and I can't wait to see the final product, which should include some funny bits where I try very hard to keep the wedding together, as well as me post-zombification ;-) Here are a couple of my shots before the zombies attack:

King King on Hollywood BLVD

Looking for a little house music in Hollywood? Spent Saturday @ King-King on Hollywood Blvd and it was great!

A "slow" night happens to be pretty packed, and the music gets louder and louder as the night goes on, pumping some very serious dance rhythms and getting the whole crowd moving. A visit to their website at King King Hollywood proves how popular they are: there are shows almost every night, featuring dozens of DJs, rock bands, art shows (including aerial art!) and even movie screenings. King King appeals to almost any crowd; just hit their site, choose a night, and you'll be feelin' alright! (Okay, that was bad: Tim wrote that.)

If you go on Saturday nights, maybe I'll see you there!

Divine Intervention Society's "Moonwalk My Adidas" final cut is up!

Divine Intervention Society has posted their video single for "Moonwalk My Adidas" -- an awesome smash-up of old and new school hip-hop. If you keep your eyes peeled, you can see me in several of the "back to the 80's" style scenes...probably most obvious when O Brown is sporting his giant fro ;-) The final product is so good, and the shoot was a ton of fun thanks to all the behind the scenes dancing and antics!

F.A.M.E. Red Carpet with Real TV Films, Shane Sparks, Gilles Marini and more at the Green Door in Hollywood

On Tuesday December 15th, Bannock and I walked the Red Carpet at an event for F.A.M.E. (and several other organizations listed below), sponsoring Toys for Tots and other causes as well as networking musicians, actors, artists, and other celebrities. It was hosted by Shane Sparks and featured a ton of other celebs as well. I was interviewed by the lovely model/actress/host, Mary Katherine McBride for RealTVFilms, a web-based company that does tons of celebrity interviews. I have yet to see the interview, but I remember blanking out on my upcoming projects. Don't you just love being put on the spot?

The charity event sponsored by Trevino Enterprises, RealTVFilms, itsmyurls, Insider5 and many more. The turn out at the Green Door in Hollywood was huge: the line to walk the carpet and get interviewed didn't have an end most of the night, and the open, Parisian ballroom was packed with entertainers from all different backgrounds. We met makeup artist Bethany Trotter and several of her friends, singer/vocal coach Tita Farrar, and saw some artwork by Airom Bleicher. Ms. Farrar was promoting not only an upcoming single, but also a new community project known as "Lights On America," whose goal is to provide enough aid to poor families to simply keep their electricity bills paid through the winter.

Musical Guests included Spanish vocalist Paloma, latin percussionist Paris Escovedo, and several others.

I'm looking forward to my next red carpet event!

I cannot BEEEE-LIEVE how busy it's been recently, and when you hear why, you're gonna be bustin' the rhymes, doin' the Moon Walk, dressin' in some snazzy digs, and takin' some pix.

Or something like that...

Just as soon as that was done, it was time to head to Downtown L.A. for some amazing music and a great video shoot for Divine Intervention Society's new single, "Moon Walk My ADIDAS." The shoot featured break-dancing, VW Bugs, and some great artists, including band members O Brown (worked with B Real of Cypress Hill among others), Christian Wicks (a DJ and president of fashion line English Laundry), and Cameron Candelaria (drummer, worked with Crazy Town), as well as special guests like Cash Phlow (who's worked with Dr. Dre, Wu Tang, and a zillion others). It was an amazing time (very cold for L.A., too!). Here's pix of me with the band members, all of us excessively 80's-ified for the video shoot!

Can You Handle the Nightlife on Sunset Blvd?

Remember the Halloween blog? Well, Rod Baron's Baron Entertainment just reached their 10th Anniversary and threw a bash at Miyagi's on Sunset Blvd. GUEST LIST ONLY! Well, that's what they kept saying. When we arrived, there was no guest list and no one even at the door (all three of them we had to get through, so it wasn't for lack of doorways). But first thing's first...

Tim and I were a little late to the party, because as we were about to head out, police choppers surrounded our apartment complex and yelled over the loudspeakers, "Drop your weapons and come out with your hands up!" Naturally, we decided to turn off the lights and lay low for a while.

We finally get Missy and Shaun and the hunt for parking began. Best highlight: a sign saying "$10 Parking" and clearly pointing to a specific lot that, when we drive up, the attendant says "It's normally $20 but I'll do $15 for you." Thanks! Such a great deal! You'll only rip me off for $5 instead of $10. I feel so honored.

Does it even need to be said? We found free parking elsewhere.

Arriving at the Guest-List-Free party, we found it was jam-packed and featured some great freebies: T. Patterson coffee & espresso, a free photo booth provided by Party Booths, and some big-screen Wii, PS3 and XBox 360 game playing provided by MindGames Entertainment. Three sketchy folks later, we decided to hightail it across the street to The Den of Hollywood, but not before noticing a girl that was so drunk that she had rubber ankles: you know, when a drunk girl is walking all screwy because she has high heels and no balance, and her ankles are bending at 90-degree angles as she wobbles across the street. Missy called to this girl's "friends," saying, "Maybe you should take her shoes off before she hurts herself." In all their sober glory (riiiiight) they said, "She's fine" and continued on their way. I'm pretty sure that girl's probably in the hospital this morning.

Speaking of the hospital, after our super-cheap Sailor Jerry rum drinks at The Den (great place!), we were on our way back to the car when we heard a loud thump in the middle of traffic. Tim and Shaun took off across the street to help a guy who'd just been run over! He tried to walk on a broken ankle (something about ankles last night!) but clearly was in equal parts shock and drunken stupor after being drilled by the car. It was a frantic few minutes while we pulled him off the street and I kept his leg raised while Tim called for an ambulance. The driver of the car was also in shock, probably, and we're sure that another car had slammed into the back of his car and then sped off. How the guy with the broken ankle got knocked down into traffic and only got hit the once is miraculous; he's very lucky he got away with a broken ankle and what looked like just some minor bleeding from his head...but then again, we got booted aside when the cops and EMTs arrived, so who knows how serious it was.

I'd like to thank the LAPD for just how well they covered the scene, and how little they did for the poor guy. I provided medical assistance; they stood around. Since when was this how things worked?

To be fair, they did immediately get some witnesses and started piecing everything together, so hopefully the driver and the guy who got hit don't end up in any worse a situation then they were already in. It'd be really nice if someone identified the car that sped off. What an ass!

I think that's enough excitement for this year! I doubt that's the end though, because this year's still got a month and a half left, and (in the words of Tim Bannock) Hollywood's nothing if not batshit crazy!

Baron Entertainment's Halloween party was scary, Chicks With Guns' was rocked by Shiloe!

The two Halloween parties this weekend were PACKED, and the costumes were all fantastic.

At Baron Entertainment on Friday - a really cool talent agency that'll be celebrating their 10th Anniversary soon - we saw a girl walking around with a refrigerator box that she'd done up to look like her Facebook Page, her head in the profile photo area, her friend list, her Wall posts, everything. Amazing costume, but probably not the best idea for a party where the amount of room to move by the bar is measured in eighths of an inch ;-) Not to say the venue wasn't big: it was enormous, featuring a haunted graveyard out front and a second floor done up as a haunted house (but the "ghosts" were a little too drunk to pull off the tour!). Great place, and the people were all in great spirits, except for a drunk girl out front trying to puke up her alcohol and - in the process - unintentionally showing us all her unmentionables.

Girls, remember this: no matter the costume, underwear is probably a good idea.

Saturday was Chicks with Guns' Halloween party, and it was like a mini-concert. Shiloe played some great music, and there were more great costumes: a girl dressed up as a box of Franzia wine, complete with pour spout, as well as a fully-suited Gumby busting out the moves on the dance floor.

Both nights we were accompanied by Dave Brooks (who you should friend on Facebook, because he loves it so much), who works with Tim at Chicks With Guns and L.A. Wheel and Friday was the workings of Topie, who we met during a zombie wedding photo shoot ("That Special Day" by Junebug Media).

Tim and I stole our costume ideas from our good friends Noel and Jim, and hopefully they don't hate us for it...gotta give credit where it's due, and it was such a great idea (not to mention it wasn't too expensive to pull off, and we could move around freely at the parties, unlike Franzia and Facebook!). And as you can see, we even got to dress up Oliver and we brought him around the block, but surprisingly did not get any candy for the little devil...

Social Networking Tip of the Week: What Su.pr can do for you

There are all sorts of sites you can go to and paste in a link, then have it "shortened" so it looks like this: http://su.pr/2TMnFh. This is great for updating your status to Twitter and other places where word-count matters; with only 140 characters, every one of those matters so people actually have a clue what you're directing them to or telling them about.

But http://su.pr/ has some advantages that others don't. For one, you can link it to some of your accounts, so you could post to Twitter right from there. For another, it gives you a good idea on when to schedule an update based on traffic to various sites. If you post an update on a Friday night, for example, it's a lot more likely to get lost on Twitter, because everybody with an iPhone is also posting an update then. It's easy for someone to login on a Monday morning and see dozens of updates, and that's when your update is most likely to get ignored, missed, or skimmed, and so any links you post get lost.

But the best part of Su.pr? It's run through StumbleUpon, so any links you shorten automatically get submitted there. If you don't know StumbleUpon, it's a place where you submit links and they get "broadcast" to the Stumble program that allows people to just happen upon your site (get it? Stumble?), people can review and rate the link, and basically, just a lot more people might see it.

Judging by Google Analytics, StumbleUpon and Su.pr have really helped my website get out there, and if any body happens upon my site and is a casting agent...that's a really good thing!

...the Playhouse Hollywood, of course! Fridays are their Dirty Sexy House nights, jam-packed with two DJ areas rockin' the beats simultaneously, one in the main section and one in the VIP area.

But you came here for the dirty sexy scoop on what happened, so here it is: Hollywood newcomers Laurie, Tim and Melissa decided to tear up the town, and after an incredibly tasty (and shockingly inexpensive!) meal at Palms Thai restaurant on Hollywood Blvd, as well as a few drinks and carousing at Katana in West Hollywood, took a drive over to the Playhouse, a nightspot that just opened it's doors in July. Traffic was typical Friday night fare in downtown Hollywood: not fun. Luckily, on the way to the club, a bright light shone from the street as we entered a McDonald's parking lot to get some McNuggets and Flurries, and -- quite literally -- Jesus was there, arms up-raised, and thus did the traffic part and many good blessings were bestowed upon our cholesterol-laden foods. Quite the biblical moment.

And so the journey continued, and lo and behold, there was a parking spot opening up not 200 yards from the door into the club!

The two lovely gents who were about to get in there car and drive off to their roach-infested apartment to play Playstation because they couldn't pick up any "hawt chix" at the club decided it'd be funny to demand a toll of the two ladies in the front seat (Tim was minding to his Reese's Flurry in the back seat): "You can have the spot if you put down your top." You see, they thought they were cool using a double entendre, because we were in a convertible. How clever.

My response was something to the effect of: "Why don't you just leave and give us the spot?" Seemed easy enough for them to do.

Undeterred, the guys said it again: "Just put down your tops." And it was at that moment that a cop strolled over, and asked very nicely of these two upstanding citizens (who were clearly too messed up to drive), "Why don't you two come over on the sidewalk for a sec?"

Oh, the humor doesn't end there, but it probably did for those two dudes. And that would be the Girls Gone Wild reference, in case you're keeping score.

After finding parking elsewhere, the three of us strolled into the club, and thanks to some connections, we got a tour of the control booth (two words: technologically awesome!) and got seated in the VIP area. That's where we saw Nicole Richie bustin' the moves with an entourage of hip-looking cats (sorry for the 70s slang), and honestly, the DJs had this place going fierce. They had some of the "typical" modern hip-hop stuff going on, but their mixing skills and their occasional blocks of 80s songs ("Hungry Like the Wolf," "The Humpty Dance," and several others) definitely kicked it up a notch.

And that's when the Heavens parted once again, and Jesus -- the same Jesus who'd led us to the Holy Mecca that is McDonald's late on a Friday when you're starving and have very little cash -- appeared on the main stage and was going all Holy Trinity on the place. Holy Trinity being:

Raising the roof,
The Mom shuffle (you know the one your Mom does at weddings, where her arms are positioned like she's about to do the chicken dance), and
A very, very poor rendition of The Carlton.

Ah, Hollywood: my #1 new source for comedy...you know, ever since they cancelled Wonder Showzen.

Social Networking Tip of the Week: LinkedIn Links

Use LinkedIn? I sure do (click the LinkedIn button over on the right to check out some of my connections); it's a great way to contact with the folks behind the camera in the industry, as well as friends, coworkers, former employers, and potential future employers.

Well, if you use it, here's a sweet little tip that's come up in several sources, including Laura Roeder's site:

"When entering in your links, such as My Website, My Company, or My Blog, don't actually select those generic titles. Instead, select "Other" in the drop-down box, and type in a descriptive title before the link." So, instead of "My Website," you'd put in "Laurie Landry.com" or whatever your site is called.

This is an awesome way to put a relevant and descriptive link on your LinkedIn page, which is always weighted pretty highly in the various search engines.

Social networking is a big deal, something we (Laurie and Tim) have learned quite a bit about in the past few months from all manner of sources. One thing that was hard to come by, however, was information specifically targeted at increasing online/social network exposure for an actress. Sure, there's tons of places that will tell you "Social networking for an artist is probably the key to success, if any one such 'key' actually exists," but they don't really tell you the how's of it. Again, not in any targeted manner.

Then, a good friend of ours -- Jim (whose music has often been a great friend at work!) -- pointed me to Laura Roeder's site(s) and...well, the floodgates opened. There's lots of great info to be had, and I'm very thankful Jim's a guru of social marketing, because without him, we wouldn't be as far along as we are. And without people like Laura Roeder, crazy new networking ideas wouldn't be the bread and butter that is Social Media Strategy.

Anyway, part of what I'm getting at is that I'm now on LinkedIn and Twitter. But it's way cooler for me to have put together a big story around that. Perhaps more importantly, maybe it's worth expanding the horizons of this blog: not only to do a little social networking promotion for my site, Laurie Landry, but also to show a clear path on how that social networking is done, and what it leads to. Expect to see some really cool stuff very soon!
