CSI: New York "Unusual Suspects" May 12, 2010

That's a great picture of the cast. Here's a picture of me during the filming of CSI: New York, season 6, episode 20, "Unusual Suspects" due to air May 12, 2010 (whew! say that 10 times fast):

I was so sick going into work this day, and it looks REALLY bad if you call out, so I just had to suck it up. So I pull up to the lot and throw up in my car. Good start to the day!

After loading onto the shuttle and worrying that I'm going to be in painful heels all day, what does wardrobe pick for me? Heels, of course! I do one scene, then I absolutely have to change my shoes. My feet were killing me. Did anyone notice or get mad? No, thank God. But I was worried that they would the whole time.

The theater we were shooting at was exactly 100 years old, and was freezing. I'm feeling awful. Even Gary Sinise is feeling awful (or he's just all business, but it's hard to tell). He's taller than I thought he'd be...

They were filming during lunch hour on the busiest street in downtown without blocking the road. We're waiting for red lights in order to shoot, people are walking through the shots, people are taking pictures, they're trying to get on camera, they're asking questions...! Most of the time, the background actors weren't even CLOSE to being in the shot, but they still made us stand around for hours till they could get their shit together. Needless to say, I most likely won't be seen in this episode but ya never know...

I'm sure I was just grumpy because I was sick, but this wasn't very fun at all!

NCIS: Los Angeles

I loved working my first day on set: filming "Hand-to-Hand," episode 16 of NCIS: Los Angeles at Paramount Studios. The PA's and crew were great at giving direction and were all really nice. Working background gave me a chance to meet some awesome people over the course of what turned out to be a fairly long day. I wore flats, but they stretched on me and started giving me blisters as the day wore on. Whoever said acting was easy!

During our hour of lunch, I got to walk around the studio and check out the lot and while breaking for a small moment LL Cool J kept smiling at me, but because it's not cool to talk to the "Famous" on set, all I could do was smile back at him. Awkward much? Well, he finally came up to me and asked how my day was going. I couldn't just ignore him, that would have been rude right? ;-P Unfortunately for me, Chris O'Donnell kept mostly to himself, so I didn't get a shot at interacting with him (Fun Fact: both LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell are even hotter in real life! I don't even know how that's possible).

Oh, and Linda Hunt is SOOOOOOO tiny. It took all my strength to fight the urge to just pick her up! Kinda like a cute puppy or small child. I hope that's not offensive.

Watch NCIS: Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 6th...and maybe you'll spot me in the good guys' headquarters!

Red Carpet Events: Some fun facts

Red Carpet Events are quite a bit of fun, and there's always new faces and crazy personalities. But there are some interesting facts that I've discovered, stuff that might change both an outsider's view of them as well as prepare new actors, musicians, and artists for these events...which are mandatory if you want to get a foot in the door. Best to be prepared, right? So here are some of those interesting facts:

There are lines...often long lines, but sometimes very short lines that DO NOT MOVE. Either way, there's something long about it, and not in a good way. (Is there a such thing as a long line that's good? If you think of one, let me know and write it down in the comments!)
The other people in line know about as much as you do. Which is to say, nothing at all. That's a good thing, if you're willing to talk to them about that fact ;-)
The people immediately surrounding you in line are one of two types of people: (1) the people you talk to most and make friends with early on while you're waiting in line, and thus the people that you will remember (and will remember you) the most; (2) the people who are about to cut you if you don't throw some elbows or pull out the "trippy foot" maneuver. You know what maneuver I'm talking about!
If cops show up, it's not because of the potential underage stars drinking alcohol at the club, the potential drug abuse in the bathrooms, or the shady extortions going on in the back rooms. As far as I've seen, that stuff doesn't happen nearly as much in Hollywood (well not at the red carpet events) as the news would make you believe. No, if cops show up, it's because some real celebrity was trying to walk down the sidewalk to get into a better club, and couldn't get around all the not-so-big stars waiting in line at the club featuring the Red Carpet Event. Stupid big time celebrities!
The people controlling the lines are one of two people: (1) Guys like Alex Munoz, who knows everybody's face and runs things like a well-oiled machine; (2) Guys like Bill the Bouncer, who looks tough and is probably packing heat, but is probably more scared of the line than the people in the line are scared of how their hair looks before they hit the cameras.
If you're 20 feet from the door, and someone official-looking says, "We're going to stop the line for a minute or two as people get through the Red Carpet," then that really means, "We're going to announce this party is closed permanently in about 45 seconds."

I think Red Carpet Events -- the ones you don't see on national TV -- are some of the best places to get to meet people. They are also scary for newcomers, and a lot of people still follow the mentality of being out for themselves, which only makes it harder on the new crowd. But if you just put yourself out there and start talking, you'll never expect the personalities you'll meet! I've met some great ones so far, and I'm looking forward to meeting many more!

That Special Day update: Junebug Media now has a Facebook Group with Pix

Way back in September of 2009, I was cast in a short little multimedia event known as "That Special Day," a Junebug Media production that consisted of a wedding gone wrong meets a zombie apocalypse. Now, Brandie June Chernow and her talented team of set designers, photographers, videographers, and makeup artists -- including the talented David Mendez -- have created a Facebook Group for updates, photos, and more information on the upcoming final product.

I played one of the bridesmaids, and I can't wait to see the final product, which should include some funny bits where I try very hard to keep the wedding together, as well as me post-zombification ;-) Here are a couple of my shots before the zombies attack:

King King on Hollywood BLVD

Looking for a little house music in Hollywood? Spent Saturday @ King-King on Hollywood Blvd and it was great!

A "slow" night happens to be pretty packed, and the music gets louder and louder as the night goes on, pumping some very serious dance rhythms and getting the whole crowd moving. A visit to their website at King King Hollywood proves how popular they are: there are shows almost every night, featuring dozens of DJs, rock bands, art shows (including aerial art!) and even movie screenings. King King appeals to almost any crowd; just hit their site, choose a night, and you'll be feelin' alright! (Okay, that was bad: Tim wrote that.)

If you go on Saturday nights, maybe I'll see you there!

Divine Intervention Society's "Moonwalk My Adidas" final cut is up!

Divine Intervention Society has posted their video single for "Moonwalk My Adidas" -- an awesome smash-up of old and new school hip-hop. If you keep your eyes peeled, you can see me in several of the "back to the 80's" style scenes...probably most obvious when O Brown is sporting his giant fro ;-) The final product is so good, and the shoot was a ton of fun thanks to all the behind the scenes dancing and antics!

F.A.M.E. Red Carpet with Real TV Films, Shane Sparks, Gilles Marini and more at the Green Door in Hollywood

On Tuesday December 15th, Bannock and I walked the Red Carpet at an event for F.A.M.E. (and several other organizations listed below), sponsoring Toys for Tots and other causes as well as networking musicians, actors, artists, and other celebrities. It was hosted by Shane Sparks and featured a ton of other celebs as well. I was interviewed by the lovely model/actress/host, Mary Katherine McBride for RealTVFilms, a web-based company that does tons of celebrity interviews. I have yet to see the interview, but I remember blanking out on my upcoming projects. Don't you just love being put on the spot?

The charity event sponsored by Trevino Enterprises, RealTVFilms, itsmyurls, Insider5 and many more. The turn out at the Green Door in Hollywood was huge: the line to walk the carpet and get interviewed didn't have an end most of the night, and the open, Parisian ballroom was packed with entertainers from all different backgrounds. We met makeup artist Bethany Trotter and several of her friends, singer/vocal coach Tita Farrar, and saw some artwork by Airom Bleicher. Ms. Farrar was promoting not only an upcoming single, but also a new community project known as "Lights On America," whose goal is to provide enough aid to poor families to simply keep their electricity bills paid through the winter.
